TAJMAHAL- an architectural marvel

Taj Mahal : A Symbol of Love

One of the seven wonder’s of the world, the Taj Mahal is a sight to behold with its distinctive Mughal architecture.

It was an ode of love built by an emperor for his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal and truly makes us wonder about the meaning of undying love. No love story can compare with the story of emperor Shah Jahan’s tryst for 22 years to build a monument that could eternalize the memory of his beloved queen for posterity.

Besides this, the monument is a perfect example of architectural excellence. Built on the bank of river Yamuna, the whole structure has been designed in such a way that it can withstand the natural calamities like earthquake and floods. The location of the monument has been decided after a lot of scientific pre-work like the flow and level of water of the river Yamuna. The Tajmahal is built at that point where the river is turning around 1400 thereby slowing down the flow of water near the monument and therefore preventing any damage to the monument. The monument is a perfect example of symmetry right from the mausoleum to its gardens and the path ways. If you stand in the middle of the south gate(the centre point) and observe, then you will find that the eastern part of the whole monument is a mirror image of the western part, including the mausoleum, gates, corridors and even gardens. The arches and the carvings have been designed to the minutest details particularly with regards to the symmetry and clarity of each design highlighting mughal intricate craftsmanship.

It is indeed a perfect place to reawaken the endearing spirit of love crossing the boundaries of time.
